Oat Burgers

10 servings Source yield

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Block Firm Tofu
  • 1 1/2 cups Oatmeal, uncooked
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Grated Carrots
  • 1 tablespoon Tahini
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetarian Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Low Sodium Soy Sauce

Make it step by step

  1. Saute onion in a small amount of water until transparent. Drain the tofu and crumble it into a large bowl.
  2. Combine all the ingredients and mix well. (Use your hands if necessary).
  3. Shape into patties on a nonstick baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Turn over once and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Serve as is or place briefly under the broiler to brown them.
  4. HELPFUL HINTS:These may be prepared ahead and placed under the broiler for a few minutes before serving. They can also be heated quickly in a microwave. They are also very good cold. Great to bring to a picnic or cook-out.
  5. Sometimes you may get tofu with a high water content. As a result you may find the ingredients difficult to form into patties using your hands.
  6. If this should happen, you can add a few more oats then form into small rounds, place on non-stick baking sheet and press into desired shape using your fingertips.
  7. Cuisine:"African/middle Eastern"
