Reuse and attribution
USDA records are public domain/CC0. Additional product data are credited to Open Food Facts contributors under the Open Database License; individual contents use the Database Contents License. The downloadable derived database retains source links and nutrient provenance. No product photographs or member data are included.
How the data are normalized
Source nutrition by weight and by volume stays separate. A 100 ml record is not treated as 100 g. For Open Food Facts, documented available carbohydrate plus known fiber is converted to total carbohydrate before the calculator applies its unchanged total-minus-fiber formula. Missing required values and unverified bases are excluded; missing optional values remain unavailable. Records with placeholder names, conflicting nutrient sets, weight-basis macronutrient totals over 105 g per 100 g, or zero-energy labels with substantial macronutrients are held for source review. This last check can include products requiring special carbohydrate or polyol interpretation; no values are guessed to force them through the original calculator.
Community-transcribed and manufacturer-provided package values are estimates. Database validation does not replace laboratory analysis, kitchen testing or individual nutrition advice.
