Ingredients
- 50 ml cognac
- 25 ml orange liqueur, such as Cointreau
- 25 ml lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- Ice cubes, for shaking
- 1 tbsp caster sugar, for the rim, optional
- 1 strip of orange peel, to garnish
Make it step by step
- If you want a sugared rim, run a lemon wedge round the outer edge of half the coupe and press that half into a saucer of caster sugar.
- Keep the sugar on the outside of the rim only, so it does not fall into the drink.
- Chill the glass.
- Shake the cognac, orange liqueur and lemon juice hard with ice for 12-15 seconds.
- Double-strain into the coupe.
- Express the orange peel over the surface and drop it in.
